Skellenaut Sketch

Skellenaut

A quick drawing I came up with while warming up on the tablet earlier.  I suppose its sort of like the astronaut finds the puzzle box from Hellraiser in space (no, this exact same thing did not happen in Hellraiser IV… by the way, why did 80s horror icons always end up in space during the 90s?).

Something a bit different to start off a new week of daily sketches.  Hope everyone had a good weekend and remember to check back every day this week for a new sketch, painting, or nugget of information.

Back to the Future

Juggernaut

Juggernaut

Today we can say with a reasonable amount of certainty that there are no moon monsters and that a xenophobic race of diminutive green men are not planning humanity’s downfall from a base on Mars.  Indeed, we have outgrown the days when man can travel the stars in an aerodynamically preposterous cardboard boat with wings and pontoons glued on at random intervals (see: Himmelskibet).

And while it is possibly for the best that we have moved on from that last example it is, in my opinion, better to kick it old school from time to time and recapture the wonder of a retro-future than to get bogged down trying to make the ‘dark version of a painting of a graphic novel of a movie thats gritty and dark’.

Just saying, have some fun with it.

Nosferatu and the Atomic Age

Very quick post as I need to get ready for work. Here are some of this paintings I finished up this week.

The Uranium Club will be a series based on people and events at the dawn of the atomic age. Unfortunately it will have to go on hiatus as I need to get a portfolio book together for October. I’ll try to document the progress on this blog.  I’m currently accepting commissions and contract work, if you’d like email me at reachc1@yahoo.com

A Brave New World

A Brave New World

“Others will follow.  They will bring you war.”

Some authors and researchers suggest that Extra Terrestrials visited Earth in the distant past. It is hypothesized that ET provided us with knowledge, technology, religion, and perhaps even the ability to evolve to our “advanced” state.  Evidence does exist in cave paintings, ancient figurines, the bible, the bhagavad gita, and in ancient artifacts and structures that can be interpreted as evidence that this is indeed the case.

I won’t pass judgement on the theory here, but it really is fascinating once you get into it.

Mars Attacks…Again!

Fleet Commander (c) Chris Reach

I added a bit of polish to my Fleet Commander drawing. Much better now, I think.

Perhaps it was the Roswell anniversery last week, or my near obsessive listening to Escape Pod since learning of it’s existence, but I’ve had sci-fi on the brain recently. Still, it didn’t stop me from cleaning up an older semi-historical drawing of a Hospitaller Knight.

Check back tomorrow for some gallery revamps.
