Skellenaut Sketch

Skellenaut

A quick drawing I came up with while warming up on the tablet earlier.  I suppose its sort of like the astronaut finds the puzzle box from Hellraiser in space (no, this exact same thing did not happen in Hellraiser IV… by the way, why did 80s horror icons always end up in space during the 90s?).

Something a bit different to start off a new week of daily sketches.  Hope everyone had a good weekend and remember to check back every day this week for a new sketch, painting, or nugget of information.

Skeleton

Carved Skeleton

Quick sketch of a carved skeleton figure.  It was a gift given to me by way of Mexico.  I really like the choppiness of the carving. Im assuming it is not too old as the wood is clean and pretty fresh, but all the pins holding him together are rusty.  There is a real sense of beauty in rough and grotesque things.  I like when the brush strokes in paintings aren’t blended out of existence.  I like when I can see tool marks in a sculpture.

Leftovers

Leftovers

I have a lot of weird stuff around my studio. A lot.  Some of it serves to inspire, some of it serves as reference.  This shrunken head (no its not real, its made out of goat skin) has been itching to grace the shoulders of a troll or some such monster in a painting ever since I acquired it, but as of yet this has not come to pass.

Nosferatu and the Atomic Age

Very quick post as I need to get ready for work. Here are some of this paintings I finished up this week.

The Uranium Club will be a series based on people and events at the dawn of the atomic age. Unfortunately it will have to go on hiatus as I need to get a portfolio book together for October. I’ll try to document the progress on this blog.  I’m currently accepting commissions and contract work, if you’d like email me at reachc1@yahoo.com
